Since making a conscious effort to go low tox 4.5 years ago, the thing that’s changed the most for us is that we rarely get sick anymore.
We went from major respiratory illness every winter (one of the kids was hospitalised 3 years in a row 😣) to just mild colds.
Maybe it was pure coincidence but I can’t deny the correlation: I changed the way I cleaned our home and the products we put on our bodies every day… and our health reaped the benefits.
The research is clear.
What we use to clean our homes matters. The skincare we use matters. The scents we spray over our thyroid every morning matter.
Small changes and small steps matter.
While it’s true that most products only contain small amounts of questionable (or downright toxic) ingredients, we now know that bioaccumulation is a recognised hazard and if we’re using 30-80 products on our bodies and in our homes every day, how much exposure does it take to tip the scales? The answer will be different for everyone. And a complete, swift overhaul won’t be possible everyone. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and if you feel your family’s health is subpar, it’s worth making the effort to create change.
Slow change is better than no change.
Change the way you clean your home.
Change what you use on your face.
Change your perfume and cologne.
