A recent study has looked at the effect of inhalation of marjoram essential oil on the stress and anxiety levels of nurses in a COVID-19 ICU.
Fifty-seven nurses working in a single COVID-19 ICU were randomly assigned to inhale 3% marjoram essential oil or almond oil for 2 hours while at work.
It found that inhalation of marjoram essential oil while caring for patients in a COVID-19 ICU may be a simple and effective intervention that reduces perceived stress and anxiety in nurses.
Marjoram has long been known to have a positive impact on the nervous system and is recommended to relieve tension, support sleep and reduce stress.
