Have you ever caught yourself telling a story that was somewhat less than honest because you thought it might make you look better to the person listening?
We do it often.
We tell people we’ve been trying really hard to eat better, when in fact we haven’t.
We tell people we’ve been diligently saving, when really we’re spending more than we ever did.
We tell people we’ve been working out, when in reality we went for a run around the block a week ago.
We tell people our business is doing “really well” even though that’s not a term we use when we’re talking to ourselves about our business.
We tell these stories and embellish the truth so that we’ll look good to the outside world, but what really matters – in fact, the ONLY thing that matters – is our inside world.
Our own heart, mind and soul.
Where’s all that at? How’s that doing?
Be honest with yourself, make the changes you need to make and stop hiding behind stories that make you look more together than you feel.
Admit that it’s ok to be struggling but work harder at what’s important to you.
If getting healthy is important to you, stop buying junk food.
If getting fit is important to you, you’re going to need to start prioritising exercise.
If a profitable business is important to you, you’re going to need to sit down and create a plan for how to make that happen… and then make that happen.
If saving money for a house deposit is important to you, work out how much you need to save each week and start saving it.
It doesn’t matter that you’re not perfect (spoiler alert: you never will be).
What matters is that you’re trying.
Every day.
Every. Single. Day.
