I was one of those people who swore I’d never get a Thermomix. My dear friend swore it would change my life but I didn’t believe her.
In general, I was super judgmental of those who had one. I thought that you either had one because your kids had a tonne of allergies to cook around (like my dear friend) or you were rolling in money and it was just a status symbol – this fancy jug that sat on your kitchen bench for all to see that you were one of the people who could afford this expensive kitchen appliance.
Wow, was I wrong.
Two and half years ago, my husband got it into his head that a Thermomix would be a good idea so we took the plunge. I wasn’t convinced I’d use it, but thought it was his idea, so he could use it if he was that keen to buy one…
Long story short, barely a day has passed that I haven’t used it at least once, sometimes 4, 5, 6 times.
Things I make now that I definitely didn’t before: cinnamon scrolls, butter chicken, KFC spice mix, veggie stock, cauliflower soup, ice-cream, yoghurt, different types of bread, lemonade, dips, sauces, smoothies and stews.
Can you make all this without a Thermomix? Without a doubt. Would *I* make any of it without a Thermomix? Most likely not. I was a very simple meat-and-three-veg kinda cook before the Thermomix.
Maybe you read my list and thought “pfft, I already make all that and don’t need a Thermomix.” That’s awesome. Go you! Some people love cooking and are naturally gifted in that area. It’s not me.
If you avoid cooking or don’t enjoy it for whatever reason, I can’t recommend a Thermomix enough.
It has easily paid for itself based on how often I use it and what I use it for.
The other great thing about Thermomix? It has independent consultants, which means that the women who support you in learning how to get the most from your investment earn a commission from your purchase. And I’m so happy to spend money with companies who support women who are building their own businesses.
If you’re even remotely keen to see what the fuss is about, I recommend jumping on a cooking demo. My sister-in-law @susiesthermobis services different areas in Victoria and if you’re in Canberra, @tp_mix_me is your girl.
I’ve had a Thermomix since 2011 (baby bonus purchase). It’s great, and it’s helped me cook lots of things that I never would have thought about before, but 11 years in I’m using it less. I’m a more confident cook now than when I bought it so I find I can do things without it easily enough. It’s definitely great if you’re not inclined to cooking but it can also give you the confidence not to need it anymore too.
