5 Days, 5 Ways… To Simplify Your Life: Day 1

It’s Day 1 of the 5 day challenge to simplify your life.

I created this mini series a little while ago as a way to help mothers create some simplicity in their daily lives.

I know how busy you are and I wanted to create something that you could absorb in your two minutes of down time and then implement on the go. The tasks are simple yet practical, doable yet powerful. I hope it makes a difference for you. Enjoy!

Day 1

Sort out that annoying kitchen drawer!

Choose a kitchen drawer or cupboard that you find really annoying.

  • Take everything out and put it in a box.
  • Take each item back out of the box only when you need to use it.
  • Once used, don’t put it back in the box. Put it back in the drawer or cupboard. This is obviously a keeper!

After a few weeks, you’ll notice that there are a lot of items you still haven’t taken out of the box. If you can’t bring yourself to part with them yet, keep them in the box a little while longer. If, after three months, there are any remaining items in the box, evict them from your home!

For this activity, I picked the utensils drawer! You could also do it with the junk drawer, the tea towel drawer (do we really need 20 tea towels??) or the pots and pans cupboard.

The idea is to eliminate one annoying thing from your life and simplify the kitchen processes. If you find yourself constantly saying, “Ugh! I can never find anything in this drawer/cupboard/pantry!” – that is the place you need to start with.

Happy sorting!

Struggling with clutter, too much stuff, missed appointments, mounting messes? I hear you!!

How about changing all of that to peace-filled, intentional living? Sounds too good to be true?

It isn’t.
