Parenting babies and young adults (and everything in between) at the same time is an enormous privilege and so much fun! It’s also hard, but I’m finding the joy far outweighs the hard.

It feels like every week there’s a new milestone and they’re so wildly different…

Will someone cut a tooth today… or will someone get their driver’s licence?
Will someone learn to read… or will someone have their first dry night?
Will someone learn to walk… or will someone learn to ride a motorbike?
Will someone brush their teeth independently for the first time… or will someone make dinner for the family, by themselves, start to finish? #lifeskills

Truth be told, I was always a little worried about big parenting gaps. I grew up with 3 sisters and we were all born within 6 years so we have really close relationships. I was worried about balancing the needs of littles and bigs at the same time..

One needs mama’s milk; the other needs to get 10 more night driving hours.
One needs someone to read to; the other needs someone to watch their footy drills.
One needs a fresh nappy; the other needs a D&M.

It makes for a busy home and lots of opportunities for tolerance, patience and grace.

Watching my children grow into themselves and develop their relationships with each other is one of the greatest joys of parenting and makes up for a multitude of little daily struggles.
