Something I’m working on this year is better control of what goes on in my head.
I find it so easy to slip into a negative thought process and am trying to make a conscious effort to flip the narrative to something positive or at least neutral.
For example:
Instead of “I have to cook dinner”, I’ll think “I get to prepare food for those I love”.
Instead of “I have to hang the washing out now”, I’ll think “We have clothes to wear and running water to clean them.”
Instead of “I have to teach year 2 Maths for the 7th year in a row”, I’ll think “I get to help my kids discover the logic and patterns in Maths.”
Instead of “It feels like I’m forever at the grocery store”, I’ll try “I’m so grateful we can afford to buy food.”
Instead of “I’m so sick of mopping up accidents”, I’ll try “I’m teaching my kids to be independent and this messy stage will pass.”
It’s just a matter of forming new habits and thought processes but it’s a work in progress.
How about you? What’s something you’ve committed to working on this year?
