Unpopular opinion: we’re all influencers.
Ever told someone about your favourite café? Shared the name of your hairdresser? Jumped on Instagram to talk about your can’t-live-without garden tool?
Chances are someone has made a purchasing decision based off what you’ve told them. And that makes you an influencer 😉
But don’t worry; it’s not a bad thing.
Every single day we make decisions about what to feed our family, where to buy a specific gift, which nappies to use, how best to prune the hedges, what to use to help our little one sleep.
If I have the contact details for the best darn Fairy Helpers around and I know you’re looking for said Fairy Helpers to clean your kitchen for you each night while you sleep… I would be the actual worst friend if I didn’t share.
Now, let’s suppose I make a few bucks from recommending the Fairy Helpers to you. Well, I don’t want you to think that I’m just sharing because there’s something in it for me… so I don’t share. And you just plod along cleaning your own kitchen each night, NOT while you sleep.
Like I said. Actual worst friend.
It’s said that we each make around 35,000 decisions every day, so if we can take a recommendation from a friend and cross that one extra decision off our list, they’ve done us an enormous favour.
Next time you’re looking for recommendations for products and services, be sure to check in with your friends. I can guarantee you one of them will have or know something you’re looking for. You’ll get what you need and, if they’re affiliates or brand ambassadors, they might make a few dollars for their efforts in sharing. #winwin
