Hello fellow business owner.
I know it can feel like we’ve constantly got to come up with fresh content, but we really don’t.
You can recycle your content completely unchanged, repurpose it, shake it up, turn it into a different format… anything you want! People learn in different ways and just because you wrote a great Instagram post last year, doesn’t mean everybody read it and doesn’t mean you can’t reshare it without a single edit… or put the info into a reel… or share just a small section of it to your feed… or talk about it out on stories.
It’s not just me saying this. Plenty of businesses with hundreds of thousands of followers regularly repurpose content.
They’ll reshare images every so often and often the caption is unchanged.
Why does this matter?
It doesn’t!
In our cloth nappy business, if I write a blog post for our website, I’ll turn it into social posts, use it as content for our weekly newsletter, turn snippets of it into shareable graphics, sometimes even create videos of the content. People consume content in different ways and no one will see it all. And that’s not a bad thing either, because then our colleagues will see that we reshare content which hopefully takes the pressure off them feeling like everything has to original.
Don’t let the pressure of wanting stuff to be original stop you from sharing.
The important thing is to just keep sharing consistently and it doesn’t matter how many times you share the same thing – most people aren’t seeing every touch point. They’ll be lucky to see 1-2.
The other day I posted a quick time lapse of making my moisturiser on Instagram stories (which I’ve shared about before) and I then turned it into a reel. The story had about 100 views, the reel over 3k.
I’d love to challenge you to flick back through your feed from the past 6 months and pick a post that you can either reshare (with or without tweaks), turn into a reel or talk about in stories.
