What #homeschool looks like for us.

One of the kids had choir practice early this morning. My husband dropped him off on his way to work and I went out later to pick him up. When I returned home, I could hear lots of noise from the lounge room where 4 of the kids were playing a dice game.

These kids are aged 13, 11, 8 and 5. All playing together before we dive into morning chores and then bookwork.

My eldest has been doing her schoolwork for the past 2 hours (she’s currently studying To Kill a Mockingbird and I can’t tell you how fun it is to be able to discuss great books with your teen!) before she heads out to work this morning for a local family. Then she’ll have music lessons this afternoon and I’ll take the other kids to my mum’s to hang out with their cousins.

Later in the week, the kids have football and netball training and we’ve got homeschool co-op on Friday where the kids are currently preparing Julius Cesar to perform next month.

This is what homeschool looks like for us. Filled with family and friends and characterised by variety and flexibility.
