Short Term Impact in a Small Garden Space #gardening #growyourown #selfsufficiency

Need to start growing food this season? Hey, it’s 2024. Who doesn’t?! 😳

Normally, I plant seeds each year, but last year my seeds were taken by ants and mice and by the time we starting growing anything, we had been set back by 6-8 weeks, so I decided to invest in mostly seedlings this year and it’s been the best decision.

This lettuce punnet which had 12 tiny plants was $4.50. I’ve had it in for about 3 weeks and have harvested 4 times already for our family of 9. I pick it when we need it so it’s as fresh as food can get and while I have this in a veggie box, it doesn’t take up much space so you can grow in pots on the balcony.

Baby spinach, rocket, spinach, pak choi – they’re all great options to get in the ground. Versatile, highly nutritious and best eaten fresh.

If you have a small space and want short term impact for minimal effort and outlay, plant leafy greens.
