Is lavender essential oil something that comes to mind as a sleep aid? Or something that you have in your wellness arsenal, ready to pull out when a family member is struggling to get a restful night?
If not, do yourself a favour and change that stat!
I’ve been using essential oils for over 17 years but it still blows my mind when we have a particular “win” and lavender has saved my sanity this month which is about as big of a win as you can get 🙌🏼
After a few restoring months with a newborn that actually slept through the night (first time ever for me!), teething hit and our little guy became quite unsettled. We threw in a massive road trip and he started waking every 1.5-2 hours during the night.
I had stopped using his teething roller (lavender + copaiba) once the first couple of teeth cut through and just kinda forgot that lavender is magic for more than just pain relief 🙃
One night I couldn’t settle him, so we rolled the teething blend on and he settled instantly. INSTANTLY 😮
Now, I apply lavender on his jawline and chest during his final feed of the night and he sleeps in stretches of 4.5-5.5 hours.
The one night in the past week that I forgot to pop some lavender on him… he woke after 2 hours.
If you or one of your small folk are struggling with sleep, I honestly can’t recommend lavender enough. But don’t take my word for it. Jump over to PubMed, type in lavender+sleep and see what the research has to say.
